A pointillist artwork of a turtle with a patterned shell and flippers swimming in a blue textured sea or ocean.

I think anyone who has seen a sea turtle in the wild for the first time distinctly remembers that moment. I certainly do.

My first encounter came while snorkeling in the Tobago Cays Marine Park in the Southern Grenadines. I remember looking out into the brilliant blue water and suddenly seeing a richly colored sea turtle gracefully gliding through the sea. It was one of those unexpected moments that makes you pause and simply take in the wonder of what is happening before you.

It seems fitting that within the Tobago Cays is a small island aptly named Turtle Island. This piece is a celebration of that unforgettable first encounter and the quiet magic of watching a sea turtle move effortlessly through its ocean home.
